COLD STORAGE,
KEPT IN RANGE.
Temperature-sensitive freight has less time to wait. LOAD X sources chilled or frozen storage, reefer transfers and temperature-controlled handling for the product you’re moving.
LOAD X sources and coordinates the right provider for each request. LOAD X does not own every facility, truck or crew, and provider availability is confirmed per request — nothing is booked until LOAD X confirms it with you.
WHAT IT IS
Cold storage covers refrigerated (chilled) and frozen facilities that hold product within a set temperature range. Temperature-controlled handling can also mean moving freight from a failing reefer to a working one, or crossdocking it at a refrigerated dock so it stays in range.
Every facility has its own ranges, certifications and receiving rules (for example food-grade handling or pre-cooled trailers). LOAD X checks those against your product for each request; it never assumes a facility can hold a temperature it hasn’t confirmed.
WHEN YOU NEED IT
- A reefer unit failed and the product needs to move to cold storage or another trailer
- A chilled or frozen load was refused or its appointment moved
- You need short-term frozen or refrigerated space near a receiver
- Product must be transferred at a temperature-controlled dock
HOW LOAD X COORDINATES IT
- You send the request. Use the request form, NEED HELP NOW, the LOAD X assistant or the 24/7 line. You get a request number and a private tracking link.
- LOAD X reviews it. The team reads the details, checks what’s missing and contacts you if anything needs clarifying.
- The team sources providers. LOAD X reaches out to facilities, crews or carriers that fit the freight, location and timing, and asks each one to confirm availability for this job.
- You confirm the plan. LOAD X brings the option back to you. Nothing is booked until LOAD X confirms it with you, and the tracking page only shows SOLUTION CONFIRMED once it is.
- LOAD X stays your point of contact. Status updates appear on your tracking page (and by email or text if you opt in), and you can add photos or paperwork there at any time.
WHAT TO SEND US
The more of this you include, the faster the team can source the right option. Photos and paperwork can be attached to the request.
- Pickup and delivery locations (city and state at minimum; full addresses if you have them)
- The date you need it done, or whether it’s flexible
- Pallet count, dimensions and approximate weight
- Commodity, and whether anything is hazmat, fragile or high value
- Your name, company, phone and email
- The required temperature range (for example 34–38°F, or 0°F and below)
- The current reefer setpoint and reading, and how long the product has been out of range, if at all
- Product type (produce, dairy, meat, pharmaceuticals, frozen goods) and any food-grade requirement
- Photos of the reefer display and the freight if something went wrong

COMMON QUESTIONS
My reefer failed. What should I do first?
Keep the doors closed, note the current temperature and time, take a photo of the unit display, and send a NEED HELP NOW request or call the 24/7 line. The team is alerted right away and starts looking for a cold facility or a replacement reefer.
Can LOAD X guarantee the product stays in range?
No one can promise that in advance. LOAD X sources facilities and equipment that confirm they can hold your range; the facility or carrier is responsible for its equipment.
Do you handle frozen and chilled?
LOAD X coordinates both. Which facilities can take your product depends on the range and product type, which is why the team confirms each request.
