FREIGHT STORAGE,
WHEN IT CAN’T MOVE YET.
When freight can’t deliver on schedule, it needs a safe place to wait. LOAD X finds a facility that can take it in, hold it and release it when you’re ready.
LOAD X sources and coordinates the right provider for each request. LOAD X does not own every facility, truck or crew, and provider availability is confirmed per request — nothing is booked until LOAD X confirms it with you.
WHAT IT IS
Freight storage here means holding palletized or floor-loaded freight at a warehouse or dock for a period of time, from overnight to several weeks, until it can deliver or be picked up again. Storage is usually billed by the pallet or by space, plus handling in and out.
Facilities differ in what they accept (stackable or non-stackable pallets, oversized items, food-grade or bonded freight), how they receive it, and how quickly they can release it, so LOAD X checks those details with the facility for your specific freight.
WHEN YOU NEED IT
- The receiver can’t take delivery yet, or the appointment moved
- A load was refused and needs to be held while you decide what to do with it
- You’re staging inventory near a customer before delivery
- A truck can’t continue and the freight needs somewhere secure overnight
- You need overflow space for a short period
HOW LOAD X COORDINATES IT
- You send the request. Use the request form, NEED HELP NOW, the LOAD X assistant or the 24/7 line. You get a request number and a private tracking link.
- LOAD X reviews it. The team reads the details, checks what’s missing and contacts you if anything needs clarifying.
- The team sources providers. LOAD X reaches out to facilities, crews or carriers that fit the freight, location and timing, and asks each one to confirm availability for this job.
- You confirm the plan. LOAD X brings the option back to you. Nothing is booked until LOAD X confirms it with you, and the tracking page only shows SOLUTION CONFIRMED once it is.
- LOAD X stays your point of contact. Status updates appear on your tracking page (and by email or text if you opt in), and you can add photos or paperwork there at any time.
WHAT TO SEND US
The more of this you include, the faster the team can source the right option. Photos and paperwork can be attached to the request.
- Pickup and delivery locations (city and state at minimum; full addresses if you have them)
- The date you need it done, or whether it’s flexible
- Pallet count, dimensions and approximate weight
- Commodity, and whether anything is hazmat, fragile or high value
- Your name, company, phone and email
- How long you expect to store it (days, weeks, or unknown)
- Whether pallets are stackable, and their height
- Any temperature requirement (see cold storage if it’s chilled or frozen)
- How the freight will arrive and leave (your truck, a carrier LOAD X arranges, or customer pickup)

COMMON QUESTIONS
How long can freight be stored?
It depends on the facility. Some take freight for a night, others for weeks or longer. Tell LOAD X how long you expect, and the team checks with facilities that fit.
Can I store just a few pallets?
Often, yes. Many facilities accept small counts; LOAD X confirms minimums and handling charges with the facility for your request.
Is my freight insured while stored?
Coverage depends on the facility and on your own cargo coverage. Ask about it in your request and LOAD X will get the facility’s terms before you commit.
